Fronted by James Austin Murray, known to fans simply as J.A.M, JAM NOW is a genre-bending
collective born from a passion for raising consciousness, storytelling, and service through the sonic fruit
they harvest. The band’s sound fuses the energy of rock and funk with the soul of reggae, jazz, and
roots — a style they call “genre-busting.” Guided by his mentor and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alice
Cooper, J.A.M has been steadily carving his own path in the modern music landscape. Cooper’s
mentorship opened pivotal doors in the industry, including an introduction to Jack Johnson’s crew at
Brushfire Records in 2017. That connection led J.A.M to record at Jack’s solar-powered
Plastic Plant Studio in Hollywood, working alongside Grammy Award–winning producer Robert
Carranza on both his debut EP, Universal Love (2018), and JAM NOW’s debut full-length album,
Magnum Opus (2024), which features the legendary hip-hop blues icon G. Love & Special Sauce.
J.A.M has also collaborated with Stravs of Katastro on multiple singles, further expanding the group’s
creative reach and musical fusion. JAM NOW’s music has earned both local and national attention.
KWSS 93.9FM featured the band as a local spotlight artist in 2019, keeping their songs in daily rotation.
Since then, JAM NOW has performed on lineups with some of the most iconic names in alternative and
reggae-rock — including The Original Wailers, Katchafire, Satsang, Fayuca, and many more. From winning Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding competition twice in the band category and placing second as a solo artist, to headlining local festivals and playing national showcases like SXSW 2025, J.A.M continues to inspire
through music that uplifts, unites, and reminds listeners of what’s possible.
